Getting to Hinton Hideaways

Hinton Hideaways is located on Fordscroft Farm, accessible from the A30 and A303.

There are direct trains to Crewkerne station from London Waterloo, Salisbury and Exeter. The station is only a 10 minute taxi ride away. Taxis must be booked in advance.

Driving instructions

From the A303 take the exit for Crewkerne and then join the A30 towards Chard.

From the A30 take the turning signposted Hinton St George. Drive slowly down Lidden hill and the turning for Fords Croft Farm is the first right hand turn. Just before the bridge through the woodland turn left to follow the track along the woodland signposted to Hinton Hideaways and the Shepherds Hut Retreat.

Please do not drive into the farmyard. This is a working farm so take care as you might meet a tractor on the drive.

Being based in the countryside means having to book taxis in advance. This is especially important if you are arriving by train.

Can I bring my child:

The site is exclusively for adults so book that babysitter or sweet talk the grandparents and come to enjoy precious time together

Can I bring my pet:

Unfortunately we don’t allow pets.

What’s the earliest I can arrive:

We allow arrivals from 3pm. If your train arrives a little early or your journey took less time than expected just call and we will check if your property is available.

Do I need to check in when I arrive:

All the properties are accessed via a key safe next to the door of your property. Before you arrive you will receive an arrival email with directions to find us and the code for your property’s key safe. Just line up the numbers with the correct code, pull down the black lever and you will find your key(s) waiting for you.

Can I request a late check out

Our cleaners work very hard to make their way around the properties on change over days so we do ask that you keep to the check out times of 10am Monday to Saturday inclusive, 11am on Sundays for a lie in. If you have booked a lazy Sunday lie-in then you can relax with a 1pm Sunday check out

Can I request extras for a special occasion?

Do you offer any treatments?

We don’t have a spa on site but for a stress beating massage we recommend visiting Poppy at Hinton Holistics or call Laura Clark who will massage in the comfort of your own property (facebook@LC.Amethstmassagetherapy)

What’s provided in the property:

We provide crockery, cutlery and cooking implements. You’ll find a small fresh milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, sugar and marshmallows on the side. Salt and pepper are ready for seasoning and kitchen roll for any spills. Hand soap and washing up liquid are ready by the sink.

On the bed you’ll find fresh linen and towels. For those properties with outdoor bathing you’ll find fluffy white robes in the wardrobe spaces.
Hand soap and toilet rolls are provided in the bathroom.

What you’ll want to bring – Food for your stay, cooking oil and toiletries.

Do you provide charcoal for the BBQ:

We now ask guests to use disposable BBQ’s on top of the BBQ grill. This way we can guarantee a hygienic surface every time. You will find one provided in your BBQ on arrival and we sell additional ones in our honesty log store on site for £4. You are welcome to bring and use your own charcoal but we do ask that you empty the charcoal and clean the grill if you use them this way.

Where can I buy food locally:

For a full shop head to Crewkerne ( 2 miles). Next to the main car park you will find a large Waitrose and Lidl

For the forgotten essentials try ‘Our Shop’ community run in Hinton St George ( 1 ½ miles)

For local treats try The Trading post farm shop at Lopen Head ( 4 miles )

Where can I buy more logs:

We provide you with a basket of logs complete with firelighters, kindling and lighter. If you would like more during your stay you will find the log store just behind Owl Cabin on the path that runs around the back of the properties next to the woodland.
You will find an honesty box for cash. Don’t have any cash on you? Just let me know what you have used and I will simply deduct it from the damage deposit refund.

What‘s the latest I can arrive:

We ask guests to arrive no later than 10pm. If you arrive later than 9pm please be aware to keep noise to a minimum when unloading your car to avoid disturbing other guests who may have turned in for an early night.
